About Hayley
I am a Cape Town based process-driven art facilitator, creative development practitioner, and workshop designer dedicated to helping people rediscover creativity as a natural and deeply human language — one that never truly leaves us, it only gets buried.
I believe this creative capacity is part of what it means to be human, and restoring access to it is some of the most meaningful work I know.
I work with individuals who have lost touch with their creative selves, and with professional teams who need to think beyond the familiar. In both cases, the invitation is the same: slow down, make something, and see what the process reveals.
My facilitation approach is grounded in over two decades of studio-based experience. I initially spent four years attending process-driven art classes with Aliki Romano from the ArtWell, before being mentored and trained as a creative arts facilitator by Lindy Solomon in 2009. I continued my personal studio work over the following decade, and have been teaching and designing courses and workshops since 2010.
In my workshops, I combine playful, experimental techniques with gentle guidance and a nurturing environment — encouraging participants to let go of judgment and find out what emerges when they simply follow their own curiosity. Rooted in process-driven art, the focus is on exploration rather than outcome, and the act of creating itself becomes a way of knowing — revealing things about ourselves that thinking alone rarely uncovers.
I have seen how creativity quietly replenishes things people didn’t realise they had lost — confidence, clarity, and an almost forgotten sense of joy. Whether through collage, drawing, clay-work, mixed media, or other inventive techniques, I invite participants to experience art-making as a form of creative recovery and internal nourishment.
I offer immersive eight-week studio courses with weekly three-hour sessions, one-off workshops for those new to process-driven art or unable to commit long-term, and corporate sessions designed to inspire and invigorate professional individuals and teams.
My facilitation style is relational and encouraging, with full guidance throughout every session. My work is shaped by my Christian faith while remaining inclusive and welcoming to participants of all backgrounds.
Hayley creates something truly special within these courses. There is a beautiful balance between freedom and structure. Each session becomes a space where I can meet myself honestly, and through the process of creating, I find myself in quiet conversation with parts of me that would otherwise remain unheard. It’s not just art—it’s a pathway back to trusting my own inner knowing.Hayley lovingly curates every detail of each class with such care and intention, inviting all of the senses to soften and open. She also guides us each week through the different materials and techniques we will be using, offering just enough direction to inspire exploration while still leaving space for our own intuitive expression. There is a seamlessness to the way she leads—never forcing, always allowing—and yet somehow everything unfolds exactly as it needs to.What I’ve come to cherish most is the devotion to the process. For those eight weeks, I have scheduled sacred time with myself—and within that time, something always shifts. Something is revealed, something is healed, and I walk away feeling more connected, more aligned, and more myself.I feel deeply grateful for this work and for the space Hayley holds so beautifully. I’m completely hooked to this way of creating, discovering, and remembering.

What is Process Art?
Process-driven art is a creative approach that values exploration, curiosity, and discovery over artistic outcome or technical skill. Personal style emerges and skills grow quietly in the background — as a by-product rather than the ultimate focus.
In my sessions, participants are guided through mixed media techniques including drawing, collage, printing, clay-work, and experimental mark-making.
Through guided prompts and reflective questions, participants are invited to look at what they have made and notice what it stirs in them — what thoughts, feelings or memories it brings to the surface — making the creative process a starting point for genuine personal reflection rather than mere picture making.
The focus is not primarily on producing a “good” artwork — though with time and practice, something interesting almost always happens.
As participants relax into the process, their work naturally becomes more expressive, more resolved and often genuinely pleasing. The inner process and the aesthetic tend to find each other — and when they do, something resolves in both directions at once — on the canvas and quietly within.
Hayley, I'm late night art journaling and watercolour playing and I wanted to thank you so SO much for bringing me back to feeling like I can actually have fun drawing and painting again after I stood at a distance for decades looking on at other creatives feeling so envious of their ability to put marks on paper and live a creative existence. It's so nice to not feel like I need to judge myself and to just do art for the sake of art and enjoyment, and not mind the outcome. It's the hugest gift and I am immensely grateful to you for helping me to find my creative center again. Yay!

Hayley's art classes allow me the chance to dive into the rich inner world of expression and creativity that lie, often unexplored, within me and the effect of the classes linger far longer than the classes themselves. Pure gold.

Signature Methodology
My approach follows a carefully structured creative arc, designed to ease participants into the process and carry them through to meaningful reflection.
Core pillars of the methodology:
- Introduction — an opening to the theme and materials of the session, including a live demonstration of techniques so that participants feel informed and at ease before beginning
- Inspiration — through exciting materials and guided visualisations / gentle relaxation methods that draw participants into the theme in a personal way, quieting the analytical mind and activating the imaginative one. Inspiration from poetry, philosophy and historical/cultural thinkers is also shared where relevant.
- Art-making — a supported period of creative exploration using mixed media techniques, with full guidance throughout and no pressure toward a particular outcome
- Reflection — a private, written conversation between the participant and their own artwork, guided by carefully crafted prompts, questions, and journaling techniques
- Closing Circle — a gentle group gathering where participants are invited to share insights and be witnessed in their creative journey, without judgment or evaluation.
